Summer 2021: Welcoming All

"All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another" (Anatole France).

Photo Story: Staging new community space

Dreams of building a stage in the Sonshine Room started becoming a reality in May with preparing the space where the stage will be built, drafting a construction plan, and ordering lumber

The construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of June but finishing touches will continue after that.

Then it will be time to complete the dream by thinking about who might be the best performer or speaker – from within our church family for sure but more so from our wider community – when the space is opened in early September.

Toy Library transitions to WWW for summer

By Nan Rice

On June 2, the Toy Library at Epworth ended for the season and on June 9, Weed and Water Wednesday began in the church yard with masks and distancing.

Before COVID, Cabin Fever used to end in March but after transforming to the Toy Library for safety, we decided to extend the season until the start of WWW.

As a result, the Toy Library became a place where we start the Epworth Garden. The families that came in the last week of March planted marigolds, sunflowers, and tomatoes to take home.

Plants for the garden went under the grow lights in the Fellowship Hall for the next two months and were later planted outside.
